Set in mid-20th-century Nepal, Teen Ghumti (2016) follows Indramaya, a bold Newar woman who defies deep-rooted social and political norms through three decisive choices:First, she defies her family to marry her Brahmin tuition teacher, Pitambar. Second, when Pitambar is jailed for political activism against the Panchayat regime, an isolated Indramaya becomes intimate with his friend Ramesh and gets pregnant. Finally, when a released Pitambar demands she give up her baby daughter, Indramaya refuses to sacrifice her child or self-respect, walking away from both men to raise her daughter on her own terms.
