Born Jharana Bajracharya Rashid in Kathmandu, she grew up in a multicultural household with a Hindu mother, Lalana Bajracharya, and a Muslim father, Rashid. She completed her schooling at Siddhartha Vanasthali Institute and later earned a degree in Sociology, while also developing herself as a painter and potter.At 16, she was crowned Miss Nepal 1997, becoming Nepal’s representative at Miss World 1997 in Seychelles, marking a major milestone in Nepali pageantry.Her acting debut came with Hatiyar (1999) opposite Rajesh Hamal and Karishma Manandhar. She gained further recognition with Pareni Maya Jalaima (2004), which won Best Story at the Nepali Film Awards.
