Upasana Singh Thakuri

Subhadra Adhikari was a revered Nepali actress whose artistic journey spanned more than six decades across film, theatre, radio, and television. Born in 2004 B.S. (1947/48 A.D.) in Asan, Kathmandu, she displayed exceptional talent from childhood—performing classical dance at age five at Saraswati Sadan (Camp) and beginning her acting career at age six through the Newari stage play ‘Kachimcha’ (काँचो माटो). Her debut film Manko Bandh marked the beginning of a prolific screen career. She went on to act in over one hundred Nepali films, earning admiration for her expressive performances in classics such as Chino, Kanyadan, Basudev, Bato Muniko Phool, Muna Madan, Basanti, Swarga, Saubhagya, and many others. She also appeared in notable titles including Jeevan Rekha, Badlido Aakash, Pirati, Maya Preeti, Bhauju, Mangalsutra, Behuli, Karja, Kathmandu, Dashgaja, and more—winning the hearts of audiences through diverse roles. Honored with the Chalachitra Dhirgha Sadhana Samman, Subhadra Adhikari remains one of Nepal’s most enduring and respected performing artists.    

Mausami Malla is a well-known Nepali actress who gained popularity in the late 1980s and early 1990s. She was born on February 11, 1969, in Chitwan, Nepal, and originally aspired to be a sportsperson before entering the film industry. Mausami was born into an army family and was a national-level athlete during her school years. She got married at the age of 15 and moved to Pokhara with her husband. Her acting career began after her marriage and the birth of her first child. She made her debut in the movie 'Kanchi', where she played the role of a child despite being a mother herself. After moving to Kathmandu, she continued her education but had to pause due to her second pregnancy. She later starred in several successful films, including 'Pachhis Basanta', 'Bhagya Rekha', 'Tilhari', and 'Bhumari'. After facing personal struggles, including domestic violence and divorce, Mausami left the film industry for 13 years and moved to Belgium, where she worked as a beautician. She later made a comeback as a film producer, with her son Vicky Malla starring in one of her productions, 'Samaya'.

Geetanjali Thapa is a Nepali and Indian actress known for her work in both Bollywood and Nepali cinema. She was born in Gangtok, Sikkim, India, and started her career as a model before transitioning into acting. Career Highlights She made her feature film debut with Tina Ki Chaabi in 2010. Her film I.D. won her Best Actress awards at the Los Angeles Film Festival and the Madrid Film Festival. She starred in Monsoon Shootout, which was screened at the Cannes Film Festival 2013. She starred in Trapped alongside Rajkummar Rao, a survival drama directed by Vikramaditya Motwane. Her film Stray Dolls was an American crime film, released in 2019. Nepali Film – Jaar Geetanjali Thapa plays a leading role in the Nepali historical drama Jaar, directed by Phurba Tshering Lama. The film is based on a renowned short story by Indra Bahadur Rai and explores social traditions and moral complexities during the rule of Jung Bahadur Rana (1846–1877). The film stars Saugat Malla, Anoop Bikram Shahi, and Geetanjali Thapa, bringing to life a compelling narrative about Nepal’s past. Jaar is set to release on May 9, 2025. Apart from films, Geetanjali has also appeared in commercials for brands like Tanishq and L'Oreal, alongside Aishwarya Rai Bachchan.
