John Chamling Rai is a talented Nepali singer-songwriter from Dharan, born on November 5, 1998. He began his musical journey at age four with a guitar gifted by his father, and honed his skills through church choirs and acoustic covers of artists like Tribal Rain, Sajjan Raj Vaidya, and Neetesh Jung Kunwar. His debut single “Prasna” (2020) marked the start of a prolific career, followed by viral hits like “Sadhana,” “Hawa Jastai,” and “Samaya Ley.” John studied corporate finance at the University of Copenhagen, Denmark, and now leads the band John and The Local, blending folk, pop, and introspective lyricism. His music often explores themes of longing, identity, and emotional vulnerability, resonating deeply with Nepali youth. Gopal Yonjan (1943–1997) was a towering figure in Nepali music—an accomplished singer, lyricist, music director, arranger, flutist, and multi-instrumentalist. Born in Darjeeling, India, he began his musical journey with the flute, winning accolades as a young performer. His deep study of Nepali folk, Rabindra Sangeet, and classical traditions shaped a career that spanned over three decades and more than 2,000 compositions. Yonjan moved to Kathmandu in 1967 to pursue his MA in Nepali and taught music at prestigious schools while composing for Radio Nepal, Nepal Police Club, and films. His partnership with Narayan Gopal is considered the golden era of Nepali modern music. Born on 17th Bhadra, Kathmandu, Ashusen Lama grew up in a musically enriched environment. The only child of Hari B. Lama and Kaili Lama, he attended various schools and completed his SLC from Shanti Bidhya School. Passionate about music from an early age, Ashusen pursued his academics at Pashupati Campus in Chabahil before taking a break to focus entirely on music. Entry into Music: Ashusen's musical journey began with winning the Asian Star title, which marked the start of his professional career. He also participated in notable reality shows like Brighter Timro Sur Mero Geet and Swor Sangam on Image FM, which helped him gain recognition.
