Born to a Nepali Christian family in Calcutta, she made her acting debut in the Nepali film Maitighar (1966), produced in collaboration with Nepal’s Royal Nepal Film Corporation. Her performance in Maitighar introduced a new level of professionalism, screen presence, and emotional depth to Nepali filmmaking at a time when the industry was still developing. The film became a landmark project, remembered for elevating Nepali cinema’s technical and artistic standards. Although Mala Sinha went on to achieve major stardom in Bollywood, her contribution to Maitighar remains a significant cultural bridge between Nepali and Indian cinema.

Samragyee Rajya Laxmi Shah (aka Samragi Laxmi Shah or Samragyee RL Shah) is an award-winning Nepali actress and a model. Shah started her film career in 2016, debuting in Bhuwan KC’s ‘Dreams’. In her debut movie, she appeared in the role of the lead actress, opposite popular Nepali young actor, producer Bhuwan KC’s son, Anmol KC. It was reported that Samragyee beat 23 competitors before she was chosen for her role in Dreams. Prior to joining the Nepalese movie industry, Samragyee worked as a model, walking on the catwalk and appearing in different product promotions. After Samragyee became a popular actress in the wake of the commercial and critical success of her first movie, Nepali tabloids ran stories linking her ancestry to Nepal’s royal family. According to media reports, she has demanded up to a million Nepali rupees to sign up for new movies.

Bashana Timilsina is a Nepali actress who began her artistic journey through fashion and commercial modeling before transitioning into theatre and screen acting. Known for her expressive presence, grounded performances, and natural emotional range, she has steadily built her identity across stage and digital media. She is currently seen as an emerging actress in the film Kamala Miss, marking her move into mainstream Nepali cinema.

Nishma Ghimire is a Nepali actress who entered the film industry through the feature film Rhythm, after first appearing in various Nepali music videos. Known for her expressive screen presence and soft, youthful acting style, she became visible in the early 2010s as part of the new wave of actresses transitioning from modeling and music videos into mainstream cinema. Before her film debut, she worked in multiple romantic and modern‑themed music videos, which helped her gain recognition among young audiences.Although Rhythm introduced her to the big screen, Nishma continued to appear selectively in film and media projects. Over time, she gradually stepped back from the Nepali film industry and is currently not active in mainstream cinema.
