Born on January 17, 1980, in Birtamod, Jhapa, he studied film at Oscar International College. His directorial debut Loot (2012) became a cult hit, followed by acclaimed films like Talakjung vs Tulke (2014) and Loot 2 (2017). As an actor, he starred in Kabaddi Kabaddi, Dui Rupaiyan, and Prasad. Known for blending realism, dark humor, and social commentary, Basnet is married to actress Swastima Khadka. Anil Budha Magar is an award‑winning Nepali film director, writer, and independent filmmaker known for his powerful storytelling rooted in the socio‑cultural and political realities of Nepal’s remote regions. Born in Taksera, Eastern Rukum, he represents a new generation of filmmakers bringing authentic rural narratives to national and international audiences.Active since 2012, Magar began his career with the acclaimed short film Lomba (The Leadership), which won five awards and received nominations at seven international film festivals. Ramesh Budhathoki has so far acted in 1,200 teleserials and in about five dozen movies. Moreover, he has also directed 11 movies. He also holds the record for making Nepal’s longest teleserial of 980 episodes which ran on Nepal 1 television from 2004 to 2007. Budhathoki also made Nepal’s first teleserial called Bacha Birseko Chaina (Haven’t Forgotten Promise) in 1986.
